Pacts: *A lab technician Danielle works with, nominally religious, mistook one of Zalbesael's weather-manipulating evocations as a manifestation of true angelic power. The pact of Faith was centered on Zalbesael repairing the technician's severe case of carpal tunnel syndrome.

| Description/History |
|
In the Beginning, Zalbesael was delighted. An Angel of Deep given dominion over the process by which clouds, heavy with the ocean's condensation, produce rain, she brought life-giving water to the earth aided by the Angels of the Firmament. Brought life to the plant creations of the Angels of the Wild that other creatures could thrive. And Mankind as well. For God had commanded her to love them above all others, and she did. Even when she turned her power into a destructive force, washing away at the creations of the Angels of the Earth, sweeping the wild creatures away for the Angels of Death to claim, she was delighted. Content in her labor as any angel in that innocent time. She first learned of the plans of Rebellion from one of the First House who deigned to speak to her as she temporarily covered the radiance of the sun with dark clouds. She listened to his shining words, then she turned to look down on the tiny forms of the humans below, as they cowered in fear from her magnificent thunderstorm. and scurried for shelter from the raindrops she kissed them with. She felt a profound stab of longing for the creatures she had only ever been able to touch from afar. When she Fell, she sought to teach humans the mysteries of her power - she spent the Age of Wrath showing humankind how to gather rainwater for sustenance, the power inherent in the lightning storm. When Michael descended from high to curse the rebel angels, her delight shifted into defiance long enough to throw her support behind Lucifer's Crimson Legion - it's dual purpose of warring against Heaven and protecting humans appealing to her. During the Age of Wonder, she sheltered humans at Vaar, her seaside tower made of coral and copper, teaching them to live from the ocean's bounty, and entertain her when she was at rest. The epithet 'Stormqueen' came from a favorite gifted one, and she bore the title proudly when she soared out on waves of thunder and lightning to combat Heaven's warriors. That pride turned on her when the Time of Atrocities fell on the earth. Spurred on by the repercussions of the First Murder as they resonated across the cosmos, she became a furious combatant - rare, but not entirely unheard of in her House - savagely attacking angels with catastrophic weather systems, and inspiring her fellowes with the grandiose display. Her tenacity quickly earned the Morningstar's notice, and she was given a field promotion and knighthood. Unlike many of her Legion, she didn't bear condemnation to the Abyss with stoic defiance. Heaven had to drag her, clawing and shrieking, into her prison. Once it was shut behind her with the masses of the Fallen crowding around her, the last vestiges of that delight that carried her through the beginning were shredded from her in the cloying blackness. Oldest child of Cold War refugees, Danielle grew up in San Francisco, the great idealistic city her parents imagined when they thought of the freedom of the West. She grew up loved - her chemist father's influence combined with several school field trips sparked an interest in marine sciences. After college, she went to work in an oceanographic laboratory connected to San Fransisco State University, reading storm reports and passing on data to local news weather stations. Studying oceanography led her to a keen awareness of the hazardous effect of human enroachment on ocean ecosystems, and she became nominally active with environmental groups even before she was finished with school. Always lawfully, though - through enviromental lobby groups and peaceful protests and boycotts. A research excursion with a couple of coworkers on a boat just outside the mouth of San Francisco Bay, collecting water samples and meterological readings, turned hazardoud one evening, as a sudden storm wind picked up, tossing the small craft further out to sea. As the skipper radioed for aid, frantically trying to pin down coortindates to a Coast Guard station onshore, the boat capsized, dumping everyone - including himself, Danielle, and her small team - overboard into the ocean. Danielle herself spent most of her reserves of oxygen and strength trying to fight her way out from where she was trapped beneath the overturned vessel, but eventually, the cold and lack of oxygen began to overtake her. In that moment,as her lungs burned with exertion and her vision darkened in the icy black water , she said I can't.. Leaving Zalbesael plenty of space to swim up from the depths of the Pit and into the space her soul was more than ready to vacate. The Coast Guard boat arrived a little too late to save the floundering craft and most of its occupants. Danielle was the only survivor pulled from the water that didn't require any hospitalization. If she's been a little quieter, a little more focused or preoccupied with different things, her colleagues and friends have, so far, chalked it up to lingering emotional trauma. The creature that once governed and commanded storms found tremendous appeal in a woman who put words - albeit fragile, human ones - to the concepts that came to her instinctively. Looking out at the world with a great deal of her mindless rage tempered by that keen scientific eye, she sees the ruin that has been wrought on her former domain in her long absense, and seeks to correct what she can. Using the same humans that upset the balance in the first place. 217659
