History
Elena killed her own son when he was six years old. She took a good hard look into his young eyes and judged him unfit to bear the Obertus name. She picked him up and held him face-down in a metal washtub of water and lye until he stopped struggling and her own hands were almost eaten to the bone. When her husband, a third cousin, came home and, infuriated, saw her handiwork, she stabbed him to death with a pair of scissors. Both bodies were buried in the tool shed, and for a long time,s he wore gloves to hide the scars.

It was her revenge for her family devaluing her to breeding stock. It certainly made them finally pay attention to her.

Born in Romania, but smuggled out of the country as a child when the small family compound there attracted unwanted Communist attention, she grew up in a rural town in Newfoundland surrounded entirely by Obertus relatives and the rare sightseer who strayed too far and wound up on streetsweeping duty. Her father taught her how to handle a library, her grandfather to handle a stake and a knife, and her mother taught her that any object to be held in the hand was a useful thing to beat someone with. A hairbrush, a hot curling iron. Never a book, though. The texts were the sacred things among their profane little hive.

Eternally passed over in favor of her elder brother, who was eventually Embraced a Tzimisce Knight of the Dracon, her murderous display made her relations pick up their heads and wonder if they had made an error in ignoring Elena because she was quiet and had clever, housework-skilled hands.

Indeed, after the corpses were moldering in her shed, she seemed to have at least the sense of direction. She always was a rather good scholar, not exceptional by the way the Obertus measured it, but certainly decent. Her real talents, however, lay in orginization. Another family hallmark, but she took it to heart in unique ways. As easily as she could arrange a library into categories, she could put misbehaving children or newly captured hikers in line simply and effectively.

She eventually rose to a position of some prominence in the compound, and attracted the notice of a True Sabbat passing through. A Paladin in the service to none other than Sascha Vykos, her name reached the Priscus' ears, and, for reasons that ar indubitably its own, requisitioned Elena to the service of one of its proteges, Alex Craig.

Although her family's upbringing keeps her distasteful of Dr. Craig's forays into Koldunic Sorcery, she compenates by keeping the Code of the Dracon etched in her memory, and has become an invaluable asset to the Tzimisce's household
